Área Certa

Sustainability Built on Solid Stone

At Área Certa, sustainability is not just a concept — it is a daily practice. We believe that transforming natural stone must respect the territory, optimise resources and generate local value responsibly. From using basalt sourced on Pico Island to employing cutting technologies that minimise waste, we integrate environmental criteria into every stage of our activity.

BASALT

We primarily use basalt sourced from Pico Island, an abundant, strong and durable volcanic rock. As a local material, its use significantly reduces the carbon footprint associated with transport while supporting the regional economy. Beyond its natural beauty, Azorean basalt represents a sustainable and identity-rich choice for construction and design.

TECHNOLOGY SERVING THE ENVIRONMENT

In our production unit, we use CNC cutting equipment and efficient polishing systems that ensure technical precision while significantly reducing raw material waste. We make use of by-products and optimise the utilisation of each stone block, contributing to more responsible resource management.

ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY

We invest in practices that allow the reuse and separation of stone waste and slurry resulting from the cutting process. The water used in production is channelled into decanting and recycling systems, ensuring lower consumption and reduced environmental impact.

We are building a greener future, stone by stone
